Summary
Began weekly hour-long Mickel Therapy sessions over FaceTime in September 2020 with a therapist named Trevor, himself recovered from a 10-year bout of CFS/ME, running for about five sessions over six months and aimed at retraining an autonomic nervous system "stuck" in fight, flight or freeze. Long COVID left her "virtually bed-bound" by summer 2020 after a March 2020 infection, sleeping 14 hours a day, needing home help and a shower seat, unable to stand without her heart rate reaching 140 bpm, and unable to care for her son, who moved to his father's. She says "within 12 months of starting Mickel Therapy I had fully recovered" and that "it's been over a year since my recovery, and I lead a completely normal life," including walking sections of the 600-mile South West Coast Path. No relapse or setback is described; she mentions keeping up walking and a gratitude practice, which read as lifestyle choices rather than required ongoing treatment.
