Summary
Used self-directed pacing, graduated aerobic exercise (walk/jog intervals), diet changes, meditation, yoga and faith rather than any named program or drug. He crashed with post-viral fatigue/ME/CFS at 25 after a bout of mono/EBV, at his worst spending much of the day in bed with post-exertional crashes lasting 7-10 days, and stayed severely ill for about 6 years before major improvement began. He reports returning to full-time work, earning a PhD in counseling psychology, and playing basketball 4-5 times a week for 20 years plus hiking, over roughly 15 years from initial collapse to full physical activity. He says he shares the story to show there is hope for getting physically fit again after ME/CFS. He notes he remained more prone to colds long-term but reports no relapse and no ongoing treatment regimen beyond his continued active lifestyle.
