Summary
Sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (Bactrim) was one of several antibiotics she received intravenously, alongside Doxycycline and Azithromycin, under a Lyme-literate physician's care. She had been severely debilitated by chronic fatigue syndrome for about fourteen years, since a flu shot, at the time of this treatment. She reports the regimen did not help at all: "Nothing helped. I continued to be just as debilitated, depressed and anxious as ever." No improvement or benefit specific to Bactrim is described anywhere in the account. She notes uncertainty about whether any symptom changes reflected a Herxheimer die-off reaction rather than a genuine treatment effect, and reports no later relapse since no gain occurred.
