Summary
Started Otezla in autumn 2018, which "made a big difference" within a month, then added valganciclovir, ritonavir and Isentress from January 2019. Had been confined to a dark room, wheelchair-bound and unable to tolerate sound or light after a 2016 crash; the turnaround began "exactly" on his 40th birthday in May 2019. By November 2021 he was working full-time as a gymnastics teacher, going to the gym, swimming, and had taken beach holidays, "not felt so fit since he turned 30." Improvement had held for over two years but required staying on the antivirals as maintenance therapy.
