Summary
Matt Sibert credits reading Dr. John Sarno's books The Divided Mind and The Mindbody Prescription, then practicing somatic tracking, somatic meditations, expressive writing/journaling, breathing exercises and general meditation, after an earlier alternative-medicine phase of daily IV vitamin infusions and roughly 50 supplements a day had not resolved his symptoms and was dropped. He caught COVID in August 2021, describing the acute illness as "the scariest experience of his life" with uncontrollable tremors, profuse sweating and a 30-pound weight loss, followed by post-acute fatigue severe enough that he could not run his consulting business. He says he felt "at least 60 percent better" within two days of starting to read Sarno's books, and about a year later described himself as "95 to 99-percent recovered," having returned to running three businesses, working out, and relocating to Austin, Texas. He reports still occasionally getting "rotating symptoms," which he treats as emotional signals rather than a relapse, and maintains ongoing journaling, meditation and somatic practices as needed rather than reporting a complete, symptom-free resolution.
