Summary
Four years into illness, after 3.5 years of antibiotics and antimalarials for Lyme and co-infections (Bartonella, Chlamydia pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Babesia) stopped helping, switched to Valcyte 2 tablets daily. After three months her CMV lymphocyte stimulation index dropped from 65 to 30 and she reported "feeling better" overall, gaining enough energy for the gym twice weekly, though with significant side effects she called the "drug from hell" (muscle and bone pain). Planned to continue to about six months, with her doctor intending to switch to Valtrex afterward; full remission was the goal but not yet reached at last report.
What they credit
