Summary
Recovered through a structured activity-management programme run by a specialist children's CFS/ME service, pairing bursts of exertion with mandatory rest periods, plus sleep medication and a very gradual, multi-year return to schooling that began with ten minutes of home tutoring a day. She fell ill at 13, and at her worst had no energy to move, could not communicate with her family, and needed a stairlift plus a dark, quiet room away from light and noise. She says it took around three years to consider herself recovered, stating "CFS/ME is no longer a part of my life," and now in her mid-twenties leads an active life that includes scuba diving, swimming and yoga. She had a few setbacks after overexerting herself, needing to drop back to an earlier activity level before building up again. She still prioritises eight hours of sleep and rests when tired to stay well, with no further relapse reported.
