Summary
Michelle saw more than ten specialists and tried extensive medical treatment: beta blockers, the migraine drug Ubrelvy, meclizine for dizziness, two rounds of prednisone, B12 shots for neuropathy, and Paxlovid taken months after her initial infection, plus vestibular physical therapy (8 weeks), acupuncture twice weekly, weekly massage, chiropractic care, a 72-hour fast followed by intermittent fasting, a 30-day migraine-elimination diet, weekly IVs, homeopathic headache pills, and a long list of supplements (vitamin D, B-complex, magnesium, calcium, potassium, astaxanthin, resveratrol, turmeric, omega-3, melatonin), with no doses specified on the page. About four months in she began what she calls the most important thing she found: a mind-body approach built on Nicole Sachs's podcasts, the Curable app, the documentary 'This Might Hurt,' daily journaling and meditation, and behavioral activation, alongside starting Lexapro for anxiety. A 36-year-old marathon runner, she was bedridden and sleeping 12-16 hours a day at her worst, unable to get around without an escort, for roughly four months after a Scandinavia trip triggered a severe crash following what had seemed like a mild initial COVID case months earlier. She says she felt about 70% better from the initial podcasts alone, her headaches cleared almost immediately, and after more than 60 days of the mind-body work she was '85-90% back to myself depending on the day.' She still has residual anxiety, weak hands, and a nervous system she describes as having a 'hair trigger' to fight-or-flight, and maintains ongoing Lexapro, beta blockers, weekly IVs, daily journaling and meditation, daily Nicole Sachs podcasts, and most of her supplements to stay well.
